Although Manuel Antonio, established in 1972, is Costa Rica's smallest national park at just 4,014 acres, it is the destination of as many as 150,000 visitors annually due to its beautiful beaches, hiking trails and abundant wildlife. The diversity in its 6.83 km² is unequaled with 109 species of mammals, including the rarest Central American Squirrel Monkey, and 184 species of birds.
